How much money does Fabian Kahl have?

Fabian Kahl became known as one of the protagonists of the ZDF show Bares für Rares . For years he caused a stir there, especially with his half-shaved head. As a dealer in the show, it is his job to use money from his fortune to buy valuable items that he can later sell at a profit. Fabian Kahl’s estimated fortune is 1.5 million euros .

Fabian Kahl’s sources of income

Fabian Kahl earns his money as a dealer in antiques and jewelry. Not least thanks to his involvement in the show Bares für Rares, he is well connected with other antique dealers. His fortune is also enriched by the TV fees he receives for his appearances on Bares für Rares and other TV shows. In addition, his book The Treasure Hunter , published in 2018, was a bestseller.

Early interest in antiques

Fabian Kahl came into contact with the antiques trade at an early age, as his father had been doing this for decades. As a result, Kahl often visited flea markets and auctions as a child . In 2000, Kahl’s parents bought Brandenstein Castle in Ranis in Thuringia. They then undertook extensive renovation of the building. Kahl completed secondary school and then planned to take a vocational high school diploma in art and design. However, he abandoned the plan early to become an antiques dealer.

First shop at 17 years old

In 2009, Kahl opened an antique shop on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, with financial support from his parents. Due to a lack of income, he closed the business after just three months. Kahl moved to Leipzig in 2012 and founded the SansvoiX art gallery there a year later . In spring 2014, an exhibition of works by HR Giger was held there, among others. The premises also housed twelve large pieces of the Berlin Wall, making it the longest section outside the capital. The gallery also had a lounge and a stage that was used regularly.

Getting started with Cash for Rares

Around the time of the opening of SansvoiX, Kahl was discovered by a team from ZDF at a trade fair near Leipzig. They invited him to a casting for the planned television show Bares für Rares . Kahl was selected as one of the dealers, along with Susanne Steiger , and has appeared on the show since August 2013. The concept is that private individuals can have items in their possession valued and then sell them to one of the dealers. The dealers purchase the items with money from their own assets.

Secondary occupation: Ranger

Kahl gave up the SansvoiX gallery in 2014 after one year. Instead, he is a regular guest on other TV shows in addition to Bares für Rares . In 2018 he published the book The Treasure Hunter – On the Hunt for Art and Curiosities , a mixture of biography and guide to the antiques trade. In 2019 he moved to Cologne, but returned to Thuringia a year later, where he has lived at Brandenstein Castle ever since. There he offers the opportunity to appraise jewelry and antiques on Sundays. At the beginning of 2022, Kahl completed ranger training in South Africa. He plans to write a book about it, and he is also thinking about spending several months a year in Africa and working as a ranger.
